What would life be like without our morning cartoons or our trip to the
movie theater to see an animated film? Read on and find out the history of
animated movies, our beloved childhood friends.
The Beginning of No End.
Once upon a time, there was a great man named Thomas Edison. He was an
inventor who experimented with many things. In case you didn't know, he also
created the light bulb! But there was another machine that changed the world
and that was called the Kinetoscope. It was the most basic of "movie
projectors." However, it did a lot for expanding the movie regime.

The Brief History of Animation (Animation Timeline)
With the gradual advance of movie projectors, instead of showing a film
picture by picture in slide form, movie makers were able to make the
pictures flow together and create motion. However, every movie first started
out silently. Yes, these animated cartoons (graphics) were silenced with no
voice to speak out.
In the United States from 1900s to the 1920s, there were many silent
animated characters. Felix the Cat, Mickey Mouse, and the old Disney movie
animations were all portrayed with no voice. However, these are also the
best classic movies and tell us about the history of our culture.
Classic vs. Modern?
Animation history brings up one important question. Which do you like more,
classic or modern animation? At first, when animation first started, it was
directed more toward the children and toddlers. The Walt Disney movies that
we love so much (with their singing princesses and evil witches) appealed to
the fancy of young America and resulted in being part of the best movies in
our culture.
Eventually, as young America grew up, their love for animation grew with
them. This resulted in a more modernized animation. There became more
animated movies directed toward adults such as Roger Rabbit which involved
both real people and cartoons (a feat that did not happen before its time.)
Manga and adult cartoons also started appearing on television.

2-D animation soon grew one more dimension. To make animated animations
seem more real, the movie director for Disney and other movie directors
decided to make 3-D film animation. In fact, they became so popular that
Disney decided to close down their studios that used hand drawn animated
films!
Here to stay, Never to Leave
As long as there is young America and those who love there childhood past,
animated movies will never disappear. So unlike all other eras in history
that end, the era and history of animated movies will never terminate!
