Doc-YOU-mentary: A Movie About The People
Breaking The Stereotypes
Documentaries. When that word is mentioned, I always think about the
directors with the artsy glasses and Converse shoes. And of course, they
have an axe to grind with a certain issue. However, there is so much more
than the stereotypical images that comes into our minds. And these posters
of documentaries dispell them!
The French Have Done It Again!
The word documentary was first "documented" by the French in the 1900s. They
used this word as reference to any non-fiction film such as instructional
videos. They were even used to show war images such as bombers, Pearl
Harbor, Hiroshima, and World War two scenes. Stemming from small and simple
clips, documentaries began to evolve from small films into bigger and bigger
ones. Documentaries and posters of documentaries were used as propoganda
for war and still is.
However, whether to convince or discourage war
participation, it depends on the directors opinion. Documentaries are used
to persuade the audience to listen and adapt to the director's views of
society or main point.
Beginning to Take Notice
Remember those big blockbuster films showing in movie theaters like
"Supersize Me","Bowling For Columbine", "Farenheit 9-11", and the super
adorable film that came out called "March Of the Penguins"? (Weren't those
penguins cute?)
More and more people are interested in documentary films and
posters of documentaries. These movies and posters are used to inform us of
these topics. Of course, there are controversy always surrounding
opinionated movies.
Opinionated? Devoted? Then these movie posters of documentaries
are for you!

Fact or Fiction?
There was a time Michael Moore's face was plastered over posters of
documentary films. Remember that? Some said that he made up almost half of the
facts in "Bowling For Columbine" and "Farenheit 9-11." It just goes to show
that documentaries are made to be extrememly biased. Some events aren't in
chronology! So it is up for the viewer to decide what is fact or
fiction.
So why do you need these posters of documentaries? Proclaim your ideals
to the world (and to the people visiting your dorm or home) with tasteful
selections of images from your favorite documentaries. Make them know that
you stand for an important issue in your life. Push the cause even further
with one more avid supporter. They are also a great decoration piece and an
excellent collectors' addition.
So proclaim your opinion with these documentary films! With many directors
filming documentaries, more and more documentaries and posters of
documentaries are appearing. Maybe there will even be a documentary about
documentaries coming soon to a movie theater near you!
