Pocket Watches Lasts Forever
A pocket watch is the kind of watch worn not on the wrist, but placed on a pocket. Pocket watches come in traditional analog displays. It can be placed on any of the coat pockets, on the trousers, or vest pockets and are often attached by a chain to a belt loop or the lapel for security.

It was on a letter written by an Italian clocksmith named Bartholomew Manfredi for the Marchese di Manta offering the latter a pocket clock. Manfredi assures the Marchese that this pocket clock he will make for him will be better than the one then owned by the Duke of Modena.
The first pocket clock that actually fit the pocket was invented in 1510 by Peter Heinlein, a German locksmith from Nuremberg. From then on he continued manufacturing such watches until it became popular all throughout Europe.
There are two types of pocket watches. The first is open faced, with no cover, wind-up variety called a mechanical pocket watches . The other is the covered pocket watch or the hunter-type version. Since the pocket watchs separate second dial is normally located at six oclock, the pendant (also known as the stem of the open face pocket watch) is positioned at twelve oclock. For the covered ones, there is another stem, called the hunter stem, and is located at three oclock. To read the open face pocket watches then, the watch is turned ninety degrees so that the stem points to the right.
Todays pocket watches are adapting the quartz clock movement mechanism rather than the traditional wind-up mechanism of older pocket watches.
