Over the last couple of weeks the trailer for the new movie “Jumper” has been playing on TV. I had read a blurb on this movie at the end of last year and it looks better than the blurb led me to first believe. The concept of this movie is that the hero of the story has a genetic gift that allows him to teleport anywhere he wants. As he explores this gift he learns that he is not the first person to have the gift and that there is a history stretching back thousands of years between “Jumpers” and a group of people trying to kill the jumpers.
This movie has a player list that is a mix of experienced and respected actors like Samuel L. Jackson and Diane Lane, and young up-and-coming stars like Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson and Jamie Bell. The director of this 20th Century Fox film is Doug Liman.
As far as who this film will be appropriate for it’s hard to say. It was rated PG-13 because of action violence, moderate language and brief sexuality, so it probably is not a show to bring young kids to, however, pre-teens and teens will probably like it. So far I have seen mixed reviews about how good this film will be, with rumors that it was a flop in the UK.
Love, action and science fiction are on-tap in February. The Jumper movie will be released on Valentine’s Day in the U.S. so it could be a good date movie for action or sci-fi lovers.
