Fun is the theme for this week’s theatrical movie releases. As you walk by your local movie theaters, look at the newly released movie posters and you will see two really fun movies, Speed Racer and What Happens in Vegas.
What Happens in Vegas has sexy comedy movie posters featuring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz. This romantic comedy runs for an hour and 38 minutes and has the potential to make you laugh. The premise of this movie is based on the catch phrase coined by the Las Vegas Tourism Board “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” The story goes, two strangers get wasted in Vegas and end up getting married. Before they can get their marriage annulled one of them wins a $3 million jackpot and neither wants to share the winnings. The judge presiding over their divorce freezes the money for six months. The two then try everything that they can to get the other to bow out so that they can have the money all to themselves. This movie is rated PG-13 for sexual content, language, drug references and crude humor. In addition to starting Kutcher and Diaz, this movie also features Treat Williams, Dennis Farina and Rob Cuddry.
If action adventure movie posters catch your eye, then you will want to go see Speed Racer. Yes, this is a live action film based on the anime series from the 1960s. The original reviews of this film were pretty bad, but fans of the original anime series have a different opinion, they liked it. It is rated PG for action, language and a little violence, and it has a running time of two hours and 15 minutes. This film was created by the creative duo behind the Matrix trilogy so be ready to be blown away by special effects. This film has a great cast that includes: Emile Hirsch, Susan Surandon, Richard Roundtree, Christini Ricci, Matthew Fox, John Goodman and Hiroyuki Sanada. It is a fun film, it has lots of race sequences, however, it is a bit long.
