Throughout March the main genre for new releases was horror. This week I was in the mood for a few laughs so I have focused this week’s blog on the funny films being released. The first movie I selected is Run Fat Boy Run. This film, directed by David Schwimmer and starring Simon Pegg and Hank Azaria, looks hilarious. If you liked Shawn of the Dead or Hot Fuzz, you will like this film. It is rated PG-13 for sexual humor, smoking, rude humor, language and nudity.
If you are a fan of the Scary Movie films, then Superhero Movie is going to be up your alley. This film, from the creators of the Scary Movie franchise, spoofs superhero movies. It stars Leslie Nielson, Sara Paxton and Marion Ross. Its storyline will be full of superhero references and slapstick comedy.
The third film I selected for this week is not a comedy, but it does look like a fun film. The movie I selected for the third movie option is 21. This film is based on a best seller that follows a gifted MIT student who joins a team of card counters to make enough money to cover his $300,000 tuition bill. This film stars Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth and Jim Sturgis. It is rated PG-13 and includes partial nudity, violence and strong sexual content.
This week’s selection of newly released movies is a lot lighter than what was offered earlier in March. If you are up for a laugh then see Run Fat Boy Run or Superhero Movie, and if you are interested in a little Vegas action see 21.
