This weekend’s movie events are epic. The first movie to be released today is 10,000 B.C. From the creator of Independence Day and the Day After Tomorrow, this movie looks like it is going to be a visual feast. However, the reviews are somewhat mixed, indicating that while the visual elements will be spectacular, the storyline will leave you scratching your head. This Warner Brothers picture is rated PG-13, will run a little under two hours and will star: Steven Strait, Cliff Curtis and Camilla Belle.
Another film being released today is the Bank Job. This film is based on real life events. In 1971 a bank robbery was perpetrated in the London-based Lloyds Bank. This film stars action star Jason Statham and also stars Saffron Burrows. It runs for one hour and 51 minutes and is rated R. Its R rating is because of strong language, nudity, sexual content and violence. This may not be a great family film, but for the adults in the family, it may be a chance to get a little dose of action.
If you are looking for a family film that everyone can see then consider going to see College Road Trip. This Disney movie stars Martin Lawrence, Raven-Symone and Donny Osmond. It is rated G, but still looks like it will draw a good laugh from a wide range of viewers. I’ve seen the previews for this film and it looks cute, however, it may be a little predictable. That said, this may be the only film released this weekend that is appropriate for kids under 10.
This week’s movie lineup includes epic action adventure films, thrillers and family films. A great selection for anyone looking for something fun to do.
