Last week’s theatrical releases offered you a little bit of everything. This week the month’s heavy hitters are being released. If you want to go to the movies tonight you can choose from: Semi-Pro (Will Ferrell), Penelope, the City of Men and the Other Boleyn Girl.
Each week I like to feature a new release. This week I want to focus on “the Other Boleyn Girl.” As a fan of “the Tudors,” a Showtime series, I was naturally attracted to this film. It is the story of the Boleyn Girls. Both of which, who had affairs with King Henry. It chronicles each girl’s relationship with the king and explores their motivations.
The Other Boleyn Girl stars Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana, quite an impressive cast list. It was directed by Justin Chadwick and was based on the novel written by Philippa Gregory. If you like “the Tudors,” or if you enjoy historical bioepics, then this is probably going to be a movie you will enjoy. It is rated PG-13 because of the mature topics explored, sexual content and action violence.
Classical movie themes, like the monarchy, always are interesting to watch, especially when the film is well made. This week you can select between historical bioepics, February thrillers and a Will Ferrell comedy film. Tomorrow is the first day of March, and it looks like we’ll have another great month of new releases. However, if you can’t find something that you want to see at the movie theaters, then look for great DVD releases.
