Movie Releases
This week’s theatrical releases look like a lot of fun. The first is a slapstick comedy, made by the creators of “the 40 Year Old Virgin,” and it is called “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” The premise for this film is that a man is dumped by his super star girlfriend and his life falls apart. In order to get over her he goes to Oahu for a vacation. Unfortunately, his ex is there with her new superstar boyfriend. In order to distract himself from the uncomfortable situation he starts flirting with a hotel staff member. Staring in this film are: Jason Segel, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Russell Brad.
If you are a martial arts fan then you will want to see “The Forebidden Kingdom.” This martial arts/action film is groundbreaking in that it is the first film where Jackie Chan and Jet Li team up. The premise of this Lionsgate film is that a man is accidentally transported back in time, where he has to find a way to rescue the legendary Monkey King, who is a fabled warrior. This film is rated PG-13 for violence and martial arts action. This looks like a great film for pre-teens and teens, as well as action fans.
If you are up for something a little edgier this week, then you will want to go see 88 Minutes. This film stars Al Pacino, Lee Lee Solieski and Alicia Witt. The storyline for this film is that a professor/forensic psychiatrist receives a death threat that gives him 88 minutes to identify who is trying to kill him. This Sony Pictures release is rated R for brief nudity, disturbing content and language.
”Forgetting Sarah,” “The Forebidden Kingdom” and “88 Minutes” is the lineup for this weekend’s new releases. As you can see, there is something for everyone.
