This week’s movie releases really run the spectrum of film entertainment. The first film to be released this week is a romantic comedy written, produced and directed by George Clooney called Leatherheads. This movie examines a war hero’s attempts to save a failing football league. In addition to George Clooney, you will also see performances given by Renee Zelwegger and John Krasinski. This film is rated PG-13 for language.
If you are looking for a scare, then you will want to go see The Ruins. This horror/thriller film is based on the horror novel “the Ruins” written by Scott Smith. The storyline of this film is a group of friends enter the Mexican jungle to explore archaeological sites. However, the one they find has a dark secret that endangers all of them. Actors performing in this film include: Jonathan Tucker, Jena Malone, Joe Andersen, Shawn Ashmore and Laura Ramsey. As is expected, this film is rated R.
For those of you looking for a family action and adventure film then NIM’s Island is for you. This film stars Gerard Butler, Abigail Breslin and Jodie Foster. While it is rated PG for mild adventure action and mild language, this looks like a great film for the whole family. The storyline is set around a young girl who is living on a private island with her father. She is a huge fan of an action/adventure writer, and reaches out to this writer, who is agoraphobic, for help when her father is lost at sea. I just saw the trailer for this film and it looks like a lot of fun.
Whether you are looking action adventure, horror, family films or a romantic comedy, this week will not disappoint you. Return next Friday for more information on theatrical releases.
